Trinity’s Birthday

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

Today, Kristen and I went to Trinity’s birthday party. She decided to go to a fun place with good wings. HOOTERS! So I grabbed my HOOTERS! shirt from Alabama and off we went.

I looooove Trinity and am going to miss being frequently around her smile and genuinely great soul. Her paramour, Meredith was there making me laugh and…of course…girls in tight shirts and shorts.

Last Rebar For Me In Seattle

Monday, May 28th, 2007

We decided to go to Re-Bar tonight. I have such good memories of Re-Bar over the years. Sunday night being a great way to end the weekend. West coast house music rules here. Brian Lyons is the main DJ and he was up for a visit from LA where he lives now. Wesley Holmes was also performing. I grabbed a few pics of Susan-Char, Trinity, Meredith, and Kelly.

Adios Mini

Saturday, May 26th, 2007

Well…this morning, I sold my Mini. It was kinda sad to see it go, but I just won’t need a car over the summer in NYC. A nice woman from across the water purchased it and was “all smiles” when she saw it and later drove away in her new Mini.

Its the shedding of many large material items. The car was the first one. There could be more to come. Its a big change for me but I think a good one. Complacent. Comfortable. Reasonable. Those are all words that I don’t want to have around me right now in my life. I’ve lived an exceedingly comfortable life here in Seattle for a decade. Enough of that.

Puyan Debut at Trinity Nightclub

Saturday, May 26th, 2007

Last night, I went to hear Puyan spin his first time at Trinity nightclub. He’s committed. Haha. Maryam, Nima, and sew more people were also there. Puyan kicked ass with a house set.

All About Marching Bands

Monday, May 21st, 2007

On Sunday, I bought a ticket to see the Extra Action Marching Band on June 22nd at the Knitting Factory in NYC. A new friend I met online gave the latter props and suggested we go together. Turns out, my subletor (weird word, huh?) is in the Hungry March Band. They’re going on a European tour next month; that’s why I get the sublet for a month. I wonder if they’re coastal rivals or collaborators?

What’s up with the marching bands? Suddenly, I’m noticing them everywhere. Even Seattle had the The Infernal Noise Brigade (RIP 2006).

Touring My Properties, Visiting a Friend, and Geek Out

Sunday, May 20th, 2007

Today, I met my friend Boris. Boris is a really creative guy that holds the punk ethos high, spins 90s house music, and rides a Ducati. Amazing. I had some of his vinyl for several months and it was good to catch up with him. We met at Vivaci, the best coffeehouse in North America, and it reminded me again that I won’t have Boris nor fantastic coffee like this as easy to get much longer.

Then I met Matt who will be managing my rental properties over the summer. We toured both of them and began exchanging knowledge about each. I also got to go on board his boat that is docked on Lake Washington. Its nice. Then I had yet another moment. It was raining and we could see the gray look it gave everything as I looked over Lake Washington towards Bellevue, the forests, and mountains. Not going to see anything like that in NY. Maybe Maine?

At night, I did blah stuff like filing receipts, balancing books, and upgrading Wordpress on this server.

Red Pony — Live!

Wednesday, May 16th, 2007

Last night I went to hear Rebecca West aka Red Pony aka Miss Kick perform her first public live electronic set at Oscillate. She’s an absolute master at vinyl; playing in the chunky tech-house realm. Recently, though, she’s been producing her own music. It was great to talk with her and her paramour Brett Johnson. Then to hear her new music live and composed uniquely for the night using Ableton Live and keyboard.

I Have a Home in NYC

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007

I heard tonight that I have a home in Williamsburg for next month when I move to NYC. Wahoo! I have the sublet from mid-June until mid-July. A month. That gives me a great launching pad to find another sublet in Manhattan. The location seems great and the roommates too. Now…I have a date to be in the city and everything else will march to that.
