Figment 2007 in New York City

Monday, July 9th, 2007

Yesterday, July 8th, was the first annual Figment celebration of art and creative culture held 10 minutes from New York City on Governors Island. I volunteered to help the group out and it was a blast. Smooth running. However, over a thousand (1000+) people couldn’t get on the island because we were overwhelmed with happy people that wanted to come out. We had writeups in the New York Times, Time Out New York, AM New York, and more. For those that did make it on the island, they had the opportunity to ride metal and tire tread horses, learn African dance routines, get their faces painted, listen to music, dance to electrifying DJs, watch medieval swordplay, admire beautiful artwork and experienced dozens of other projects and activities.

Pictures are here.

Saturday, May 26th, 2007

Last night, I went to hear Puyan spin his first time at Trinity nightclub. He’s committed. Haha. Maryam, Nima, and sew more people were also there. Puyan kicked ass with a house set.

Here are lots of great pictures from my most recent show “4 Seasons”. Our photographer Kim Behrens took some great pictures and then I took waaaay lotta time to find the best ones and photoedit each of them. Below are three random pictures from the set or you can view the whole set.

Bassnectar show

Sunday, April 8th, 2007

Last night was a show filled with hippies, freaks, burners, and others that love freak beats. Lorin Bassnectar stopped in Seattle on his west coast tour for his new record release, Underground Communication. It was lots of fun. Here’s a new friend that I made there; she’s a performance artist. Also, a short video of the show.

[Update] I removed the video that I took of the show because its really great but gave away too much of the magic of the tour. I’d rather keep the show’s surprise and power so I might post it later this year after the tour.

Workout, Breakup, and the Persian New Year

Friday, March 23rd, 2007

Today was jam packed. I started off in the morning with my normal workout. Except this time, I didn’t have my personal trainer, Tony, with me. Instead, Tony had made a workout regiment consisting of painful exercises focusing on my core muscles. After that, I cleaned up and headed home to work on my 2006 taxes. Blech.

In the early evening, I met Bob. Bob and I had been dating since January. He’s a great guy but we recently learned that we’re not really compatible for a long-term relationship. So we did the typical exchange of stuff and had a good drink at Barca together. I loooove Barca and Dawn, one of their early evening bartenders. Dawn makes an amazing drink with Becherovka and Apfel Korn. The latter is much better than the other craptastic apple liquors.

Then…its time to party. Tonight my friends Maryam and Nima threw a big Norooz Persian New Year celebration. It was a collaboration between DiscoParvaaz, their party series, and NWPersians.com. I worked the door decked out in Armani, a black suede hat, and Prada shoes. It isn’t often that I dress up like that but this is a Persian party. Beautiful people. And, there’s typically enough jewelry and fur at these events to pay off a small countries debt. So I wanted to step up my look for the night.

I had a great time. There was a live band, DJs, decorations, and lots of fun and beautiful people. Arial helped me at the door; we ruled and bartered with gusto. That’s he and I, on the left, in the picture. (And what is going on with my mouth? Argh, I stuck my tongue out a little in fun and Maryam caught it. Ha-ha. ) As the night wrapped up, I helped strike and we all went home to bed. No, not all to the same bed.
